If you have come to this website searching for information about Tofi The Proud, you will no doubt have seen other sites describing him as one of Cnut's henchmen. Tofi is an enigma in the historical evidence. He is only identifiable as the same person in two documents. Once in a court document where he argued with Thorkyl the White, and another where he was present at a wedding ceremony. If you want to find out more about Tofi the Proud and his place in history, I would highly recommend Richard Fletcher's book Bloodfeud (Murder and Revend in Anglo-Saxon England), 2002, for further information. As a history graduate Tofi played a small role in my degree, but I loved the name and hence the name of our dog today.
